yup, I’m the last year of my bachelor degree in biology (IRC that’s how it’s called in USA!), then I’m planning to get a major in molecular biology or biomedical sciences, which here in Italy lasts for two years!
Now, I’m working in laboratory and then I’ll have to write a sort of report of my activity, which is the thesis…and I’m afraid I’ll have to work on it at least during all July. eheh! I’m planning to graduate in October =)
lol, seems like we have a few things in common!
For the first part of my thesis I worked in a lab aswell so my (master)thesis was about that. But are you’re still working in the lab? Even during exam-period?
yep, I work in lab even during exams but just because I’ve got only one and I manage to do both, otherwise I could avoid the lab =) Since it’s a bachelor I’m not supposed to stay in lab 24/7 like some phD and master students do and that allows me to have some time for studying. =) Even though I actually like the lab experience so I’d not mind to stay there a bit more =P
yeah I liked it too…. Too bad it’s over in a way… It makes me think of doing a phD, but I’m absolutely not sure yet :S
I did have to stay there long, everyday from about 9u till 18u, but if I finished sooner, I could leave when I wanted.
What’s your research about? or what techniques you do mainly?
And you have to do one in your master years too then?

the research is about cell stem: we’re using stem cells that comes from mouse’s testicles and that so far are like embryonal stem cells – then we let them differentiate spontaneously, we’re interested in cardiac myocytes cell lines, which are easily recongnizible as they beat even in vitro. Once we found them in the embryoid, we then remove those cells that beat and do some electrophysiological analysis on them. The final idea is to create a biological pacemaker in order to replace those artificial ones used nowadays in cardiac surgery. =)
And yes I’ve one year of laboratory during master year and in that case I’ll have to stay there much more often than now – pretty much like you. ^_^
And the phD is so tempting…if you really like research, I’d go for it even though it requires some “sacrifice” =)
cool xP And will you do the same in your last year? or a different topic?
yeah, I still don’t know In a few months I have to do apprenticeship or internship or teaching practice or however you may say this in English xP in a chemist’s/drugstore, so I’ll see if that’s what I want to do and otherwise I can still go into the industry or into research

I had a course about genetics too this semester, but it was an optional course and it was really nothing :S We basically just had to represent (powerpoint presentation) an article and that was it… :S

really? me too! xP Well, my thesis is in two parts, one part this semester and the second part next year. I’ve finished the first part about a week ago, but the second: we have to finish it by october, so basically they expect us to work on it during the summer holiday :S Now that the first part is still ‘fresh’ in your head… So yeah, jippie! :S Ow well, guess we’ll get through it

yup, I’m the last year of my bachelor degree in biology (IRC that’s how it’s called in USA!), then I’m planning to get a major in molecular biology or biomedical sciences, which here in Italy lasts for two years!
Now, I’m working in laboratory and then I’ll have to write a sort of report of my activity, which is the thesis…and I’m afraid I’ll have to work on it at least during all July. eheh! I’m planning to graduate in October =)

lol, seems like we have a few things in common!
so my (master)thesis was about that. But are you’re still working in the lab? Even during exam-period?

yep, I work in lab even during exams but just because I’ve got only one and I manage to do both, otherwise I could avoid the lab =) Since it’s a bachelor I’m not supposed to stay in lab 24/7 like some phD and master students do and that allows me to have some time for studying. =) Even though I actually like the lab experience so I’d not mind to stay there a bit more =P

I did have to stay there long, everyday from about 9u till 18u, but if I finished sooner, I could leave when I wanted.
What’s your research about? or what techniques you do mainly?
And you have to do one in your master years too then?

the research is about cell stem: we’re using stem cells that comes from mouse’s testicles and that so far are like embryonal stem cells – then we let them differentiate spontaneously, we’re interested in cardiac myocytes cell lines, which are easily recongnizible as they beat even in vitro. Once we found them in the embryoid, we then remove those cells that beat and do some electrophysiological analysis on them. The final idea is to create a biological pacemaker in order to replace those artificial ones used nowadays in cardiac surgery. =)
And yes I’ve one year of laboratory during master year and in that case I’ll have to stay there much more often than now – pretty much like you. ^_^
And the phD is so tempting…if you really like research, I’d go for it even though it requires some “sacrifice” =)

In a few months I have to do apprenticeship or internship or teaching practice or however you may say this in English xP in a chemist’s/drugstore, so I’ll see if that’s what I want to do and otherwise I can still go into the industry or into research
